Appzlogic
Testing of a top Mobile Banking App from end to end

Introduction

The Client is a prominent commercial bank that supports small and medium-sized enterprises. The client decided to introduce a mobile banking software that would allow users to make payments and manage their money on the go to draw in new consumers and enhance the experience of existing ones.

The challenge

The testing team faced numerous difficulties with this large-scale project. The bank decided to create an application for the two most popular platforms to reach a bigger audience and they required mobile app testing services. Comprehensive testing was needed because the program has to work with the widely fragmented mobile operating systems. Additionally, Android is supported by a wide range of devices made by various manufacturers, many of which have unique characteristics that need to be taken into account. To create a positive user experience, the application had to enable users to act as if they were at a physical bank branch. Consequently, the app had to have a complex functionality and react rapidly to changing conditions. This required swift and precise testing covering risk-prone features and areas of the system.

The suggested solution

The testing team decided to test the devices most frequently used by bank clients to address the fragmentation challenge and ensure sufficient device coverage. For the application to function properly, the devices had to run at least iOS 9.3.5 or Android 4.0.1. This strategy made it easier to meet the demands of the great majority of consumers and quickly resolve the problems that affected them. The testers from Appzlogic and the bank’s representatives had to work closely together to complete the project. Functional testing as usual was not an option because of how complicated and responsive the software should be. The testing team, on the other hand, made use of contemporary Agile testing techniques, such as Beta testing for each stable release candidate. Since the test scenario was developed in consideration of insightful feedback provided by employees of various bank divisions, the Agile testing was completely transparent to the Customer. Before its release, the software was Beta tested by the Appzlogic team and the customer, giving them a chance to thoroughly examine the product. Regression testing was performed to maintain the app’s top rankings in the local mobile banking app market by Appzlogic’s mobile testing team. The testing team created an 89-test regression testing scenario in collaboration with the customer. The created scenario significantly cut down on testing time and made it possible to upgrade the app quickly and flawlessly.

The final result

The project has been on for 5+ years. The fruitful joint efforts of the developers, the bank representatives, and the testing team resulted in delivering a high-quality updatable mobile app compatible with several mobile devices, including wearables. The app operates seamlessly across a wide range of iOS and Android devices and provides a secure environment for various transactions, which makes the app a high-quality user-friendly tool covering the majority of functions available at physical bank branches.
